Progressive Knockout tournaments demand a fundamentally different strategic framework compared to standard freezeouts. The dead money sitting on opponents' heads as bounties shifts the math dramatically on close calling decisions. Calling a shove to collect a large bounty may be correct even when your equity against the shoving range is negative in chip-EV terms. Track the bounties on the players at your table and adjust your aggression accordingly - target players with large accumulated bounties on heads shorter stacks that you can isolate, and protect your own growing bounty by avoiding unnecessary all-in gambles when not heads-up.
The most efficient way to build your tournament résumé and take shots at high-value events is through our satellite network. In Turbo and Hyper-Turbo tournaments, the blind-to-stack ratio increases so rapidly that conservative play quickly becomes untenable. The optimal strategy shifts toward aggression and push-fold play much earlier than in standard events. In a Hyper-Turbo with 2-minute levels, you may be at 15 big blinds by level 6 - entering pure shove-or-fold territory before most players at a standard table would even think about it.
